    If you can let these two very simple words begin to define your existence, you’re well on your way to living a life that is rich in meaning and saturated with happiness. Begin to take these words with you wherever you go, and try to make them your first conscious thought of each day.


    Give thanks for the bed you’ve slept in, for the roof over your head, for the food you eat, and the clothes you wear. Offer gratitude towards the car you drive, even if it’s not the car you want to be driving. If your car breaks down, be thankful for whatever this reason is even if you can’t consciously understand what it would be. Give thanks for the job you didn’t get, because it only means there is a better job waiting for you.


    There is always something to be grateful for. When you begin by focusing your thankfulness on the little things you experience each day, you completely shift your energy and make room for the bigger things to flow effortlessly into your life.


    2. Be Thankful for What You Have


    This is something very important when working with the energy of gratitude. You must be thankful for whatever it is you already have in order to receive more of what you want. Even if you aren’t living the “life of your dreams”, you are living life and should be thankful for whatever situation may end up in your path.


    If it’s a new job that you want, become grateful for the job you already have. If you aren’t experiencing an ideal living situation, be thankful for where you currently are so you may better appreciate what’s to come. Whatever it is you have right now, begin to cultivate gratitude towards it. This is one of the quickest ways to receive more of what you do want, while accepting whatever it is you currently have.


     3. Keep a Gratitude Journal


    One easy way of consciously being grateful for whatever it is you already have is to begin to record it on paper. Keeping a gratitude journal will keep you focused on the good. What we focus on tends to continually manifest in our lives, and when we put our attention on the good things that happen each day, we ultimately make room for more of the same.


    An easy way to start a gratitude journal is by simply offering it thanks. Use the first page to write how thankful you are to fill all these blank pages with the blessings in your life. At the end of each day take a couple minutes to write down the little things that have happened during the day that you’re thankful for. It could be your pets, children, or the way your partner made you feel. It could be the ease of your commute or something positive that happened at work. It could also be something as simple as the way the sun catches through the leaves on the trees and the feeling of peace and wonder it inspires in you.


    When you remember that there is always something to be grateful for, it’s much easier to begin to see the many miracles that surround you every single day. Begin to write them down, and you will ultimately begin to see them multiply until your life is full of that which you most deeply desire.
